History & Highlights
- The First Tricolour on Indian Soil: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, leading the Provisional Government of Azad Hind, hoisted the flag here in 1943 — the first time it flew under Indian leadership, years ahead of independence itself.
- The 150-Foot Flagpole: Inaugurated in 2018 on the 75th anniversary of the original hoisting, now the centrepiece of the memorial, also known as the Tiranga Memorial.
- Sea Views: From South Point, the memorial looks out across the Andaman Sea to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, formerly Ross Island.
